At the OCTOBER luncheon we will be collecting eyeglasses, sunglasses, readers, etc. for donation to the Lions Club in honor of White Cane Day and vision awareness. Shirley Dillman from the Round Rock Lions Club will briefly speak with us regarding their upcoming medical mission to deliver the glasses.

Already on the calendar there are two volunteer opportunities. If interested, please sign up on the New Neighbors website. Both events are limited in the number of attendees. If you are unable to sign up, it is because the quota has been reached. Please contact Ellen Kiefer as she will be keeping a waiting list of interested members. If you sign up and cannot attend, please contact her so that another member can participate.

Tues Oct 14th 10 am – 12 noon: Texas Baptist Children’s Home. Join us as we tour their 112 acre facility, learn about their activities, and discover volunteer opportunities open to us. Limited to 10 participants. If interest exceeds, another tour will be scheduled later in the year.

Wednesday November 19th 10 am- 12 noon: BIG (Brookwood in Georgetown), an occupational and residential program for developmentally disabled adults. Tour the BIG workplaces, shop the retail store, and visit Grace Place, the new residential facility. Stay for lunch in their wonderful restaurant. They have reduced the number of spots per tour to just 6 so if interested, sign up quickly. More tours can be scheduled if there is greater interest.
